Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the infusion of moral values in teaching of Thirukkural in Tamil Language, among form 4 students. The objective of this study is to examine how teachers apply moral values in teaching Thirukkural and to identify the problems faced by teachers in order to infuse moral values in teaching Thirukkural. Researcher used qualitative method to collect data to reach the objectives of this study. Hermeneutic approach was used to observe teacher’s teaching and analyse document to reach the first objective. Interview was carried out to identify the problem faced by the teachers on infusing moral values in teaching Thirukkural. The finding of this study indicates that teachers used story telling as a technique to infuse the moral values. Time constraints and deficiency of learning aid are the problem faced by the teachers on infuse moral values in teaching Thirukkural. In conclusion, this study shows that teaching moral values in teaching Thirukkural infused moral values among students.

[Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penerapan nilai murni dalam pengajaran Thirukkural Bahasa Tamil dalam kalangan pelajar tingkatan empat. Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti kaedah yang digunakan untuk menerapkan nilai-nilai murni dalam pengajaran Thirukkural. Selain itu, kajian ini juga berobjektif untuk menganalisis masalah yang dihadapi oleh guru dalam menerapkan nilai-nilai murni. Pengkaji menggunakan kaedah Hermeneutik untuk mencapai objektif kajian ini. Pengkaji teleh memerhati pengajaran guru dan menganalisis dokumen untuk mencapai objektif pertama. Bagi mencapai objektif kedua pengkaji telah menemu bual guru untuk mengenal pasti masalah yang dihadapi oleh mereka dalam menerapkan nilai-nilai murni melalui Thirukkural. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa guru menggunakan teknik bercerita untuk menerapkan nilai murni dan kekangan masa serta kekurangan bahan bantu mengajar merupakan masalah yang dihadapi oleh guru. Kesimpulannya, kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa pengajaran karya Thirukkural dapat menerapkan nilai murni dalam kalangan pelajar tingkatan empat.]
