Abstract

Menyuntik kesegaran dan menyemarakkan keseronokan dalam pembelajaran atau ‘Joy of Learning’ menjadi tugas penting bagi guru untuk memastikan pengajaran dan pembelajaran bahasa Melayu kekal relevan pada murid-murid sekolah rendah di Singapura. Kurikulm Bahasa Melayu telah memasukkan komponen kisah-kisah legenda Singapura agar murid-murid dapat menghargai sastera Melayu yang kaya dengan unsur moral dan nilai murni. Bagi memastikan murid-murid dapat menghayati hasil sastera ini dengan cara yang lebih menyeronokkan, Pusat Bahasa Melayu Singapura (MLCS) telah mengambil inisiatif untuk menerbitkan Aplikasi Legenda Singapura (ALS) bagi menyokong pembelajaran bacaan. Aplikasi Legenda Singapura memuatkan 6 kisah legenda yang dilengkapi dengan latihan kefahaman, peribahasa pilihan, pantun, permainan bahasa dan ia mempunyai fungsi rakaman. Murid-murid boleh berlatih membaca dan menyemak bacaan mereka secara kendiri. Kajian awal yang dijalankan telah melibatkan 400 murid dan 20 orang guru daripada 5 buah sekolah rendah. Beberapa sesi pengajaran bersama telah dijalankan oleh Guru Pakar dan guru-guru yang terlibat bagi meneliti keberkesanan app ini. Dapatan awal menunjukkan 93% murid berpendapat Aplikasi Legenda Singapura mudah digunakan. 94% murid berpendapat mereka seronok belajar membaca cerita-cerita legenda dengan menggunakan app ini dan 87% murid berpendapat, mutu bacaan mereka dapat diperbaik lagi jika mereka kerap menggunakan aplikasi ini. Dapatan ini menunjukkan bahan yang diterbitkan oleh MLCS telah dapat menambah nilai PdP khususnya bacaan di bilik darjah.

[Injecting the Joy of Learning in the daily teaching and learning has been the most crucial taske for a teacher to ensure the teaching and learning of Malay Language stays relevant to the pupils in Singapore. The Malay Language curriculum have include the stories from the Legends of Singapore to safeguard tradisional Malay  literature that is rich in moral values. To ensure pupils are able to appreciate the literature in a fun way. Malay Language Centre of Singapore took the initiatives to produce The Legend of Singapore Apps to support reading activities. In this apps, there are 6 legends equipped comprehension exercises, selected proverbs, Malay quatrains, language games and an apps with recording functions. Pupils are able to practice reading and able to correct their readings on their own with the helps of narrator. This research involves 400 pupils and 20 teachers from 5 primary schools. A few sessions of co-teaching with the Master Teachers were conducted to study on the efficacy of the apps. Study shows 94% of pupils enjoy reading the stories using the apps and 87% of the pupils believed their reading qualities can be improved. This show the apps created by MLCS are able to value add on the teaching and learning in the classroom.]
